Duluth’s Newest Restaurant Just Opened! Here’s What To Know About It

A brand new spot to grab a meal just opened in Downtown Duluth!

The new eatery, which bills itself as a "New York-style" deli with sandwiches, salads, soups, and more, just opened a few days ago. I popped in to check it out and get the details about this new restaurant on Superior Street.

Here's what you need to know about Duluth's newest restaurant, Rocket Deli.

Where is Rocket Deli? When did they open?

The shop is in the old T-Icy Roll shop location on the corner of East Superior Street and 2nd Avenue East in Downtown Duluth. It is next door to Blacklist Brewing and right across Superior Street from Bell Bank.

The shop has been making preparations to open for some time now, and finally was able to open with the first phase of their menu last Friday (March 21).

Their hours are Mondays 11 am - 7 pm, and Tuesdays through Saturdays 11 am - 9 pm. They are closed on Sundays.

What's on the menu at Rocket Deli?

The shop opened with a limited menu that includes a handful of sandwiches, and a couple of salads, but the team at Rocket Deli said they will be expanding the menu over the coming weeks.

As they expand the menu out, it will include a pretty robust roster of sandwiches, salads, soups, sides, and more that you may have seen promoted on the paper coverings in their streetside windows before they opened.

The offerings as of the time they opened this "New York-style" deli include a couple of reuben and pastrami sandwiches, a turkey club, a Mediterranean salad, and nuts & berries salad, all with more to come.

Some of the items we can look forward to based on their promoted menu from before they opened include things like creamy chicken wild rice soup and tomato basil soup, sides like potato salad and pasta salad, and more sandwiches including a Caprese sandwich, and "The Italiano", which features multiple deli meats along with smoked provolone and other toppings

All sandwiches come with a side of chips and a pickle spear, with drinks available for an added purchase.

How's the food at Rocket Deli?

I tried the Deli Turkey Club Sandwich, which is served up on toasted focaccia bread and includes shaved smoked turkey, apple-smoked bacon, deli American white cheese, mixed field greens, roma tomatoes, slivered red onions, and an aioli.

The warm bread and high-quality ingredients of the sandwich all came together to make for a great, hearty meal that satisfied my hunger after missing lunch earlier in the day. The chips were good, and the pickle spear that came with it? Crisp and delicious.

It'll be fun to try more of their offerings as their menu expands.
