One Wisconsin apple orchard is in the national spotlight after being named to an elite list of the top orchards in the country.

When European settlers arrived in America, they brought apple seeds and saplings with them. While apples did grow in North America, they weren’t as sweet or as large as the ones the settlers brought.

Wisconsin Apple Orchard Earns National Recognition

USA Today has compiled a list of 20 apple orchards across the country, and voting is now open for their annual Reader’s Choice Awards to determine the top 10. One orchard from Wisconsin has made the cut and is hoping to climb to the top spot.

Peck & Bushel Organic Fruit Company, located in Colgate about 25 miles northwest of Milwaukee, grows an impressive 35 varieties of apples, along with fresh-pressed cider and homemade pies. Owners Joe and Jenny Fahey started their orchard in 2009 on a portion of what is now an 80-acre property. Today, it is one of the largest certified organic apple orchards in the Midwest.

Over the years, Peck & Bushel has expanded beyond growing apples. They now feature a retail shop and an event space that hosts private events and weddings during the off-season.

How to Help Them Reach #1

Currently sitting in 4th place, Peck & Bushel is looking for support to secure the top spot. Voting remains open until September 8, and the winners will be announced on September 17.
