We all know how mosquito season is in Minnesota, basically all summer long. For those of you who are allergic to an average mosquito bite, fingers crossed the Asian Tiger Mosquito does not take residence anytime soon.

In 2011 the state of California got it's first taste of this major pest, that typically would stick to warmer tropical climates like Florida and the other southern tear of states, but most recently this strain of mosquito has now been found in New Jersey.

Every year we hear of new outbreaks of some type of disease carried by mosquitoes, and for myself I seem more concerned about our pets and heart-worm then I do for myself. I guess it's because I have never had a reaction to a bite.

So something to think about with all the rain we have had so far this Spring and now Summer, be aware of standing water around your house. Make sure to dump out that kiddie pool and dry out that bird bath, or those pesky mosquitoes will keep you indoors this summer.
