No surprise here! Adele‘s unstoppable ’21′ took home the Album of the Year trophy at the 2012 Grammys. Adele was moved to tears, hugging her collaborators on stage. “Oh my God, thank you so much!” she said, her voice breaking off into a brief sob. “This album was inspired by something everyone’s been through,” the Brit powerhouse said. “A rubbish relationship!”

Despite being the fan favorite and clear front runner from the very moment nominations were announced, Adele still was incredulous at her 2012 Grammys victory. She launched into a long list of thank you’s before her tears — and something else — got the best of her. Breaking off into another round of tears, the velvety-voiced ‘Someone Like You’ singer cried, “Oh my God, there’s snot!”

Her Record of the Year gold was only the last in a series of victories for Adele. Earlier in the evening, she snatched Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, Song of the Year and Record of the Year. This was all icing on the lauded cake, as her impeccable performance of ‘Rolling in the Deep’ was the most highly anticipated and praised of the night.
