Allegiant Air From Duluth to Start Charging $35 For Use of Overhead Bin [POLL]
Allegiant Air announced today that it would start charging up to $35 to put your bags in its overhead bins. The new fee will not be charged to any tickets bought before Wednesday.
Currently Allegiant charges a fee for any checked luggage, $35 if done at the airport and $24.99 for all flights out of Duluth. Now, unless you can fit everything your traveling with into a small "personal item" bag that can fit under your seat, you'll need to pay something.
According to USA Today, Allegiant is only the second airline to implement a policy like this. Spirit Airlines began charging up to $45 for carry on luggage last year. The charge sparked protests from passengers' rights groups and threats of action from Congress.
Alegiant offers non-stop flights from Duluth to Las Vegas, Orlando and Phoenix.
