Samuel L. Jackson has been the anchor for Marvel's movies ever since he appeared in the end credit Easter Egg in the first 'Iron Man.' But now that the universe is established, now that 'The Avengers' is one of the biggest hits of all time, will Jackson continue his trend of showing up for a scene or two in the next couple Marvel movies? It looks like the answer is no.
Though we're still months away from 'Iron Man 3's release, that doesn't mean we aren't going to get a trickle of steady publicity from now until May 3, 2013. The film has just released four new stills, including our first look at Rebecca Hall.
Sketch comedy needs a kick in the rear every couple years, and it's been too long since Dave Chappelle flamed out when fame and fortune made 'The Chappelle Show' his cross to bare. And though 'Key & Peele' isn't to those lofty heights, they might get there, and they might get there next year as the show has been renewed for a third season.
Though 'Anchorman 2' isn't due out until sometime next year, and shooting has yet to commence, the script is being worked on and writer/director Adam McKay was out promoting something else when the sequel came up. He dropped some nuggets about the film, including that it's likely to have at least one musical number.
So much of the scuttlebutt around movies is usually half-truths. Three weeks ago we reported that Mark Wahlberg might be up for 'Transformers 4.' The next day it was denied. But now it looks like Wahlberg has been confirmed for the movie by the director himself.
Oh boy, we're in for a long road to 2015. That's when we'll get 'Star Wars - Episode 7' in theaters, but from now until then we're going to be dealing with a lot of rumors about the new 'Star Wars.' Today we heard that Matthew Vaughn might be the film's director, and now we're hearing that it's possible Harrison Ford could join the new film.
We're over six months away from the release of 'Iron Man 3,' but Marvel - coming off a pretty good year, what with 'The Avengers' and all - doesn't want to let the buzz slip away from them. And so now we get a new look at their villain in 'Iron Man 3,' The Mandarain.
We're still a bit away from the conclusion of the 'Twilight' franchise 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' as the film doesn't open until November 16, but to tide fans over is a new clip of Bella (Kristen Stewart) showing off her new powers, which involves being an excellent arm wrestler.
'Cloud Atlas' opens Friday, and it's the sort of picture that will have people raving about it, one way or the other. Our own Matt Singer gave it an 8 out of 10, where others are calling it one of the best films of the year. The actors involved seemed to love making it, or at least that's the impression they give in this new featurette.
The 'Iron Man 3' trailer. It's finally here, after a number of trailer teasers. And you get a good look and listen to Ben Kingsley's Mandarin, a taste of Guy Pearce's role in the film, and the sense that this is a film of scale, and that nothing is going to come easy for Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark.
When 'The Bourne Legacy' was released, producer Frank Marshall mentioned that he hoped a fifth film would bring the characters played by Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner together. This may be wishful thinking as Damon has recently said that he doesn't think he'll go back for more.
Tim Burton's 'Frankenweenie' opens tomorrow, and we've already seen and reviewed it. Our Jordan Hoffman said that it has "craft dancing all over the screen (Mr. Rzykruski’s mouth!), but the scenario and the writing is all very safe." But though we were mixed on it, perhaps this new featurette and clip will get you excited.
