The Cloquet Police Department issued a new update about the terrible shooting at the Super 8 motel that left 3 dead.

Police were called to the Super 8 hotel on January 9th after an employee called to report that a co-worker was attacked, when police arrived they found 22-year-old Shellby Marie Trettel of Cloquet with a gun shot wound, she was transported to the hospital where she passed away.

As police investigated the scene, they found 35-year-old Patrick Jeffrey Roers of Deer River shot dead inside a vehicle in the hotel parking lot, and they found the 32-year-old male shooter dead on the hotel property with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

What Was the Motive of the Shooting?

In today's update about the shooting, the Cloquet Police say, "Currently, we have not established a clear motive for the shooting, nor have we uncovered any connections between the suspect and the victims."

Investigators say that they will continue to work the case and are currently focusing on digital evidence obtained from the scene. They are also expecting to get final autopsy reports and toxicology results within the next 4–6 weeks.

What Comes Next in The Investigation?

Cloquet Police Chief, Derek. Randall said, "As we continue our investigation, I assure the community we remain committed to transparency and justice. We will provide additional updates as soon as we get more information and after consulting with our detectives and the county attorney's office."

This is such a sad incident that appears may be completely random, hopefully investigators can provide some answers for the families of the victims and community as the investigation wraps up in the coming weeks and months.
