Perhaps Meghan Trainor was never in search of a squad squad — on the other hand, though, she left no stone unturned in the search for a boyfriend. She told Chelsea Handler in a new episode of Chelsea that she has BFF Chloe Grace Moretz to thank for playing expert matchmaker.

In the clip above, Trainor explains that she's been in relentless pursuit of a significant other...forever...and that Moretz eventually came through big time with a prospect that turned into something real.

"I asked every person I met since Day One, ‘Find me a boyfriend!’ Like, especially new friends too," she said. "Chloe Grace Moretz is a friend of mine, and Day One of meeting her, I was like, ‘You know anybody that I could date? Or love? Whatever?' And she’s like, ‘I know the nicest guy in the world, Daryl [Sabara], and you should meet him.’ I was like, ‘Daryl? Okay.'"

Trainor seemed to first officially confirm her relationship with Sabara — most famous for playing Juni Cortez in Spy Kids — earlier in October, when she posted the Instagram image above with the caption "I [heart] Madrid … and this guy."

And now, the couple's in the thick of a love-haze, where Trainor says they're content jamming together. "He plays guitar and piano and sings to me all the time,” she said. “We sing Justin Timberlake all the time."

And as for Moretz — she seems to be taking her dating life into her own hands. Earlier this month, she very publicly flirted with Shawn Mendes on Twitter, leading followers to believe she was definitely ready to move on from ex Brooklyn Beckham.
