‘Grow Your Own’ Supply Store To Open In Duluth

Following the legalization of recreational cannabis in Minnesota, there have been a growing number of businesses creating footholds around the state to establish themselves in the early stages of the industry. A new business coming to Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood is joining that fray.

"Legal weed" is in an interesting place in Minnesota right now. It is legal to possess consumable products, but the only items currently available on a mass scale are edibles and beverages.

For those looking for "flower", options are very limited. A couple of dispensaries have opened on tribal lands, but elsewhere in Minnesota, there is still a hold on that industry while the state sets up its regulation office and system.

In the meantime, the ability to grow your own plants became legal when the law went into effect in 2023. Some businesses have begun offering seeds and growing supplies as part of a bigger business model, but one shop coming to Duluth will focus specifically on growing and supplies - but not just for cannabis plants.

"Grow Your Own" store to open in Duluth

If you've passed through Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood lately, you may have noticed a small sign hanging along Superior Street for a business called "Grow Your Own Garden Supply".

The shop is being built on the footprint of the old Dinehery Fence pole shed in the Lincoln Park Craft District, across from Aerostitch on the corner of 18th Avenue West and West Michigan Street.

What will Grow Your Own Garden Supply offer?

Looking at their website, they say they will offer a variety of gardening supplies and not just things for cannabis. They note their knowledge of growing things like tomatoes and peppers in the Northland climate and emphasize the idea of "growing kind", which refers to sustainable growing practices that are kind to the environment and local waterways.

Grow Your Own will also offer classes on a variety of agriculture-related topics that will include things like soil building, beekeeping, transplanting, and cannabis growing-related classes.

While they will offer ordinary gardening and houseplant supplies, cannabis cultivation and indoor gardening are the specialty of the store.

Along with growing supplies and knowledge, Grow Your Own will also offer a variety of seeds from their cannabis seed bank, including some CBD-oriented strains of seeds.

When will Grow Your Own Garden Supply open?

Work is still being done inside the building, but the signage near the store says "coming soon". By the looks of the progress made, it appears they could be open sometime in the next few months.
