Jeanne Ryan Recalls the Fun and Excitement of the Super Bowl in Minneapolis

1992 was so long ago, but I remember vividly the excitement in the air when Minneapolis hosted Super Bowl XXVI. The whole entire city was pulsing with news trucks and tons of people.
The city came alive with fans. players and press alike, plus everywhere you turned was something Super Bowl related. I was lucky enough to go to a Superbowl Party at a bar downtown that was once owned by Prince, called “Glam Slam.”
As we walked up the steps into the V.I.P. lounge I remember rubbing elbows with the biggest people I have ever seen in my life, NFL Players all decked to the nines and big as buildings. I did not know who anybody was, but it was still pretty cool.
Prince did make an appearance later that night surrounded by his entourage,he did not perform, just sat and looked around. My big celebrity that I did see was Jason Priestly from Beverly Hills 90210. Oh well take what you can get. But know no matter who is playing I have a new appreciation for what an honor it is for any city to host this major event.
