The Senate minority leader Tom Bakk has proposed a new bill that would move this year's fishing opener one weekend so it doesn't conflict with Mother's Day, if passed the new fishing opener would be the weekend of May 5th and 6th.

Bakk said he's making the proposal for several reasons, one of them being the mild winter and  the fact that the ice was cleared from most lakes in record time this year, the other is political, you see Bakk is a Democrat and he is trying to make his Republican counterparts look bad if they don't vote for it, then Democrats can say, "See, Republicans hate Mom's", a favorite tactic of the left.

Needless to say Republicans probably won't be voting aginist the measure and it might be the only thing the two sides might be able to agree on this election year.
