It’s only January, but there’s no question we have a winner for boss of the year.

Michael De Beyer, who owns the Kaiserhof Restaurant and Wunderbar, in Montgomery, Texas, has decided to sell his establishment to help raise money for one of his waitresses who has a brain tumor.

Brittany Mathis, 19, doesn’t have insurance and can’t even afford to find out whether the tumor is malignant or benign.

De Beyer said getting involved is the smart choice:

I just can't be standing by and doing nothing. I have to try something because it's not right."

Mathis’ sister and mother also work at the restaurant and her father died of an undetected tumor back in 2000.

De Beyer has owned the eatery for years and thinks it’s worth a high of $2 million, which can certainly help Mathis.

As you may expect, Brittany’s family is blown away by De Beyer’s gesture. "I really think it’s an amazing blessing and can't thank him enough and his family," Brittany’s mother said. "Never thought that anybody would do that and he did and it makes me feel really good."
