A growing Duluth neighborhood just added a brand new addition in the form of a new restaurant.

Last fall, we shared that a brand new, locally-owned soup and salad shop would be opening in Duluth's Lincoln Park Craft District. If you've driven along Superior Street through Lincoln Park in Duluth, you've likely seen a sign with a logo for Ritual Salad and the words "coming soon" below.

After several months of construction, remodeling the old Dinehery Fence office building to convert it into the new eatery and shop, the dreams of the owner are becoming a reality.

The social media account for Ritual Salad has been getting pretty active lately, teasing the pending opening date of the new niche eatery, focused on salads, soups, and some gift items that fit the theme of the restaurant.

After dropping a message in mid-March that they would be opening very soon, owner Cori Zastera finally opened the doors of Ritual Salad to the public for the first time on April 1.

While it might be easy for some to have assumed it was an April Fool's joke, Ritual Salad's social media account assured awaiting customers that the first day of business would indeed be April 1.

What does Ritual Salad have to offer?

Ritual Salad is sort of a themed shop, leaning into the owner's "witchy" tastes. She described the vision for the business last fall that the business would have a spiritual theme that is "based on the mystical, metaphysical world".

The menu is based on that theme, with the ability to create a customized "magical salad" to your personal preferences. The locally-sourced menu allows you to start with your choice of a base of mixed greens, rice, or both. From there, you can add in a protein option including chicken, hard-boiled eggs, cottage cheese, wild rice, and edamame.

Then, you can add your favorite veggies and other toppings, a dressing of your choice, and then a side that includes options that include pita, tortilla, and some bread options.

Also on the menu are soup options. You can order a cup, bowl, or soup flight, all of which come with a side of your choice.

Along with the food, the business is offering some gift items that fit the theme of the restaurant. Some of the items promoted on their social media include things like jewelry and earrings.

When is Ritual Salad open?

The shop's new hours are 10:30 am to 6:00 pm 7 days a week. When the owner first announced the restaurant, it was acknowledged that it would be an intimate dining experience, with an emphasis on take-out. Last fall, Cori said the plans were for dine-in seating for 8 people, with orders and pick-ups being a big part of the business.

The business plans to offer online ordering soon, but is taking orders over the phone as well as in person. The owner also shared that one of the "kinks and curveballs" of opening the new business has been a delay in their credit card processing system. Rather than waiting to open, they decided to proceed by accepting cash and Venmo payments to start.

You can learn more about this new business on their Facebook page or Instagram.
