The sewer pipes under Superior Street are over 100 years old, so utility crews will be preparing to line the pipes for future reconstruction starting next week.

City of Duluth crews will be working on replacing the old utilities under Superior Street between 4th Avenue West and 4th Avenue East starting Monday August 22nd.

Crew members will start the project by cleaning the sewer pipes with a lining coming afterwards. Then the crews will come back in September for actually lining the work.

There shouldn't be any major delays, as officials anticipate no road closures. There will, however be sewer service interruptions.  The City anticipates using a bypass lane, but smaller businesses in the area might see some sewer closures.  In the event that this needs to take place, the affected customers will be notified 24 hours in advance. The total project time-frame is slated to take approximately six weeks
