MTV Video Music Awards Executive Producer Amy Doyle has confirmed to Billboard magazine that the show will “pay tribute” to Britney Spears on this year’s broadcast.
“Obviously everything from her choreography to her fashion to her videos will be (covered). We said, ‘Let’s challenge ourselves to do something unique’,” said Doyle.
Most reality show participants have to sign extensive waivers and agree to terms not seen since the days of indentured servitude.
Recently, the Village Voice got its hands on the 30-page contract required of the people appearing on MTV‘s long-running ‘Real World’ series and, as expected, it’s positively draconian. The extreme stipulations are probably no different than those of other reality shows, but it does make you wonder who’d be crazy enough to sign it.
On August 1, 1981, television and music shacked up on a little cable channel called MTV, hosted by a collective of video jockeys or “VJs.” MTV has been through countless iterations and format changes ever since and as it shifted its focus to reality fare like 'Jersey Shore' and 'Teen Mom' in recent years, the VJs became less instrumental to the channel's brand.

July 12, 2011 And now for more 'Jersey Shore' drama: According to TMZ, cast member Vinny Guadagnino has returned to the MTV reality show just days after he reportedly called it quits.
Sources say Guadagnino went out to dinner and to a club with the 'Jersey Shore' cast Saturday night. He was also spotted carrying a laundry bag into the infamous Seaside Heights beach house.
Despite a report from US Weekly, MTV says it has no plans to replace the cast of ‘Jersey Shore.’
“We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun. We currently have no plans to recast the show,” a spokesperson told the Hollywood Reporter Friday.

According to an exclusive report from EW.com, the eight-member cast has finalized salary negotiations for the upcoming season, which will shoot in Italy.
Sources say members of the "core group" will make "at least $100,000 per-episode," up significantly from their $10,000 per-episode salary for season 2. And that's before you count their other sources of income, which includes appearances and endorsements (like, you know, Snooki's $32,000 fee to appear at Rutgers University).
