There's just something about abandoned buildings that give me the heebie-jeebies. However, I can't help but look away if I come across a video of it.

I recently stumbled across a video from the lovely people at Duluth Urbex as they walked through an abandoned elementary school in Two Harbors. The school is John A. Johnson Elementary and it has been closed since 2006. There is also another John A. Johnson Elementary school in Minnesota located in St. Paul.

I couldn't find a lot about the school because, for some reason, a lot of old elementary school information doesn't exist for some reason.  However, I did find some information on Public School Review that stated the school just under 300 students from grades Pre-Kindergarten to Third grade.  I have no idea if that is accurate, but it could be.

I also found an old article from the DNT back in 2007 that stated the school district was able to reuse the former Mary MacDonald Elementary School in Silver Bay. However, the same couldn't be done for Johnson Elementary. It looks like at one point the school district had a partnership deal that would've transformed the school building into housing units, but that deal fell apart. It was also noted that the building was not heated that year.

The old Elementary school is located at 515 10th Avenue in Two Harbors, Minnesota and it is listed for sale by Keller Williams. The building sits on 2.57 acres of land and is listed at $299,900. I also found a website that sells apparel of the old school.

Without further ado, let's dive in and see what the old school looks like after being empty for almost 17 years.

A Peek Inside

I'm no expert, but if I peek inside a window and see a pentagram, I don't think I'm going inside.

The paintings on the brick have held up. Not sure what is going on with the mats.

Gym

Can't see much of the gym due to lighting, but one can assume from the basketball hoops that this was the gym area.

I couldn't get a good angle on the cafeteria as a whole, but this room was labeled the "multi-rec".

In case you were curious, here's a look at the weekly schedule for activities in one of the classrooms.

All in all, it was another great video put up by Duluth Urbex. I couldn't get pics of everything inside. I highly recommend checking out the full video below:
