I could not even imagine the horror that a local dog owner had when his/her dog was off the leash and walking on a path at Brighton Beach at noon yesterday, when it was attacked and killed by a timberwolf.

This story hits very close to home for me and my family since we live in Lakeside and often go to Brighton Beach because it is so close. Also we have two little dogs that we let out on a large leash in our yard that is unoccupied, that is until we heard this news.

This attack happened in broad daylight, and is just another example of how these wild animals are getting pushed out of their homes, and are living and roaming closer and closer to people and pets.

This is a wake up call to all pet owners to be cautious when out with your animals or in our case even letting them outside. We are surrounded by wild animals even within city limits and need to be aware of our surroundings at all times. My sympathy goes out to the person who's dog was killed, and hopefully everyone all over the city will tend to be more cautious.
