Firefighters from the Duluth and Superior Fire Departments along with members of the 148th Fighter Wing are out in the heat collecting donations to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This year's effort, the 60th annual 'Fill the Boot' campaign, started on August 11 and continues through August 13.

Members of local departments will be out between 3pm and 6pm on the 11th, 12th, and 13th at a number of intersections around the Twin Ports. Each intersection is marked with signs, so if you see one of those intersections; dig deep, donate what you can, and be patient as traffic moves a little more slowly than usual in the name of helping a great cause.

It's also worth noting that money raised in the Twin Ports stays in the area, helping local families impacted by muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases.

Here are the intersections where you will be able to help out:

  • Central and Grand Avenues
  • Central Entrance and Arlington Avenue
  • Woodland Ave and Arrowhead Road
  • Gary and Lakeside
  • Belknap and Tower Avenues
  • 37th Street and Tower Avenue
  • 18th Avenue East and East 2nd Street

You can also make donations online. If you'd like to donate online, click the button below that applies to the department you'd prefer to donate to.
