Midwest winters are long. The temperatures are cold. The ground is blanketed with snow, and the vegetation is painted white with snowflakes. What a fabulous backdrop for a wedding! When we think of weddings, we usually think of summer, outdoors, or beaches. But have you ever considered tieing the knot during the winter months? If you've never entertained the idea, here are a few reasons to consider wintertime wedlock.

Breathtaking Beauty

Many will agree that winters in the Midwest, especially here in the Northland, are extra magical. Winter is a beautiful time of year.  Often the landscape looks like an enchanted wonderland. Imagine the photo opportunities that abound in winter!

More Affordable Accommodations

Travel is cheaper in winter. So are venues, photographers, and other outlets you may use for your big day. An example is a wedding I attended at the Greysolon Plaza in mid November. The couple, along with 25 guests, got married for a grand total of $1000. This included the venue, an elegant meal, and dazzling decorations. Not only was it incredibly affordable, but the icy decorations and the snow gently descending outside made it ultra romantic.

Options Abound

Forget extra stress. Planning your nuptials in winter is a great way to shed the stress and enjoy the experience. Chances are, you'll have an easier time booking your venue, photographer, caterer, officiant, and any other details necessary to make a memorable day.

Fewer Weather Woes

Even though a snowy winter can be challenging in its own right, there are far fewer stressors than there are in a sweaty summer setting. The humidity in winter is less; your hair will cooperate. Your makeup won't melt off. Your dress won't get sweat stains. Most likely, it won't rain. Guests and wedding parties alike will be calmer, cooler, and more collected.

Dare to be Different

We all want a memorable wedding. Do you dare to be different? What better way to make a splash on your big day than to wow your wedding guests in the winter? From the beauty of the outdoors to the fancy style options that winter allows, your frosty wedding will certainly be unforgettable.
