The 148th Air National Guard in Duluth, Minnesota routinely conducts training missions over the Twin Ports and surrounding region. In some cases,the pilots and support crews need to train at night to keep up their pilot proficiency. The 148th Fighter Wing has announced on their Facebook page that they will be conducting night training missions from Jan 25 - Friday Feb 5, 2021.

They explain that the night training is essential for pilot proficiency for future missions worldwide. Those who live in the Twin Ports area and Northern Minnesota may hear F-16 fighting falcons taking off, flying, and landing during the late afternoon and evening. All of the F-16s are scheduled to be on the ground by 11:30pm.

The 148th recently conducted a combat training readiness exercise in October of 2020. They routinely require these exercises as they deploy to situations across the globe multiple times a year. Just last year, the 148th assisted in a NORAND home defense mission. The fighter wing also participated in flyover missions as tribute to our frontline healthcare workers in May during the first wave of COVID-19 infections. They conducted flyover missions to multiple regions across the state, including a special flyover for our Duluth area hospitals.

Airmen for the 148th also recently were serving in Washington D.C. for President Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20 in multiple roles including security and even serving up food for other troops.
