Fans may have had to wait three years for 5 Seconds of Summer's Youngblood, but the 5SOS Fam seems to think it was well worth the wait.

Released on Friday (June 15), the album marks the YouTubers turned pop sensations' third project to date, following their self-titled 2014 debut and sophomore follow-up, 2015's Sounds Good Feels Good. For this LP, the Australian band stray slightly from their rock-lite roots and lean into full, '80s-inflected pop, resulting a sound they feel sees them truly coming into their own.

“It’s the first album of ours that doesn’t sound like anyone else. This is the staple 5 Seconds Of Summer sound," singer Luke Hemmings told HMV. "We’re not emulating our favourite bands anymore. We wanted to move on and pave the way for the next 10 years of the band.”

Doing so, apparently, also meant starting from scratch.

"We went into this with a new perspective and we wanted everything to be brand new. Every single producer and every single part of our team was brand new," continued guitarist Michael Clifford. "For us to evolve, we needed to surround ourselves with new people, people who would help us push boundaries and change how we did things, both in life and in music.”

And for their followers, it paid off. See the best reactions from 5SOS fans below.
