Justin Bieber Strikes Back at Michael Clifford After 5SOS Rolling Stone Story
Justin Bieber took to Twitter to defend himself after the guys of 5 Seconds of Summer suggested in a Rolling Stone interview that the pop star had issues with the band.
The controversy erupted when Rolling Stone published a lengthy interview with 5SOS that focused on their rock 'n' roll lifestyle, including tales of open sex, heavy drinking, and medication abuse. The article seemingly divided fans on social media, with some defending that the story was too focused on the negatives, while other fans were upset over the band's admission to misogyny.
In one anecdote, Michael Clifford of 5SOS mentions crashing Bieber's American Music Awards party. "I think he hates us," he tells the magazine. "It was f----g crazy, people standing on tables and shit. I probably shouldn't say this, but he had his own album on loop for, like, two or three hours."
That didn't sit well with Bieber, who took to Twitter and in a series of tweets fired back at Clifford. Those tweets were since deleted but as is everything that makes it to the Internet, those tweets were archived for all to see.
"Sometimes I wonder...what the hell did I have to do with that?? Lol," Bieber writes in the first tweet. He then addresses Clifford directly, saying, "wish u the best. Don't use my name for headlines. U are already on teh cover. U don't need it. Just be honest. Big hugs bud."
He then concludes, "sorry guy. Don't hate you. Don't even know u. Are are u sure u came to our party because my album wasn't on a loop? Strange".
Clifford then fires back, "done nothing but praise ur album; no idea why that's even in the article. big fan since the start man, take care".
The band, meanwhile, has been mostly silent about the article on social media, except for this tweet from Clifford who wrote this on Christmas Day:
