Alec Baldwin is practically an SNL cast member at this point, but the actor may soon have a more unexpected perch – his own talk show. Reports suggest Baldwin is negotiating with ABC for a new series based on his WNYC radio show, with production potentially starting next week.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the in-the-works project would follow a similar format to the actor’s Here’s the Thing With Alec Baldwin interview series. The deal is notably not yet complete, and ABC would confirm no additional details, though production is apparently slated to begin in New York next week.

Granted, Baldwin at the center of an ABC series isn’t entirely out of place, as the former 30 Rock star inked a deal in August to host the unscripted Match Game. For the moment, it remains unclear who else might be involved with the project, when it might premiere, or when in the day (or week) the series might air. Baldwin has been conducting Here’s the Thing interviews since 2011.

Nothing is set in stone just yet, so stay tuned for further details of Baldwin’s move into the talk show world.
