An Athlete From Solon Springs Did The Improbable, Bringing Home A State Championship
Calin Lisson is an all around athlete competing in basketball, track and cross country, but his actions on the track have the town of Solon Springs WI beaming with pride! In his rookie season on the track team Lisson did something that no other athletes have ever done for Solon Springs High School, win a state championship!
The Solon Springs Track team has only been around for the last 3 years, with just ten athletes on the team who have to practice on a baseball field, but this small town team shows they not only have heart but the talent to win against the best in the state.
Lisson said to CBS3:
Last year, I was like, 'I'm going to do track because I don't do baseball or anything, so I might as well give it a try and see how I do,' and it sounds like fun. I knew I was decent at sprinting, so I figured I would sign up. So I signed up last year, but it never happened because of covid. So then this year, I was like, 'alright, I gotta do it and see what happens,' and it ended up being great!
What an amazing accomplishment, a true Cinderella story. Calin obviously has a natural talent winning a state title in his first year of running track, unbelievable! This is a great legacy to leave at the school and will be a huge motivator for future athletes. Next Fall Calin will be bringing his talents to UMD as he competes with the Bulldogs on the track and the basketball courts. Like Calin said this is proof that a small school can do anything!
