Due to feedback from fans, the University of Minnesota Duluth will start serving beer and wine during men's and women's hockey games starting with the upcoming seasons at AMSOIL Arena.

The majority of National Collegiate Hockey Conference and Western Collegiate Hockey Association venues already serve alcohol. "Availability of beer and wine at college athletic events has become quite common in recent years." said UMD Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Josh Berlo. "We are committed to being responsive to our fans and believe this will enhance our game day experience at AMSOIL Arena, while maintaining an environment grounded in fun, safe, respectful and responsible behavior."

Currently, alcohol is only served in suites and the Champions Lodge at AMSOIL. Restrictions will be placed in the student section and in a designated alcohol-free family-friendly section.

"UMD has been very thoughtful and deliberate in this decision and we've always shared the goal of a great fan experience for everyone," said DECC Executive Director Chelly Townsend. "This will be a smooth, safe transition for Bulldog fans."
