Bud Light Sends Minnesota Brewery The Best ‘Cease and Desist’ Letter Ever
After using the extremely popular Bud Light Slogan 'Dilly Dilly' as the name of their new IPA beer, a Minnesota brewery got an unexpected surprise message.
Modist Brewing Co., headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, was set to release a new Mosiac Double IPA that they were going to name 'Dilly Dilly'. Then a man who looked like he belonged in the latest season of Game of Thrones came through the doors of the brewery with a message.
This has to be the best cease and desist letter ever, right? That beer, which will be rebranded as 'Coat Tails', just got Modist a couple tickets to the Super Bowl! Not a terrible consolation prize by any means. Smart play by Bud Light to turn this into content. More often than not these companies will send out a C&D and that would be the end of it. Bud Light decided to make sure that they delivered the message in a way that would never be forgotten and would most likely go viral.
