Another change is in store for what was once Gander Mountain in Hermantown.

Over the last decade, the Twin Ports area has seen Gander Mountain rebranded as Gander Outdoors, following investor and reality TV star Marcus Lemonis purchasing the company.

Gander Mountain had been facing bankruptcy, offering Lemonis an opportunity to swoop in and revitalize the Minnesota-based outdoors retailer in 2017. The store reopened in 2018 in Hermantown as Gander Outdoors. The rebranded company, under new ownership, expanded its marine, watersports, and bicycle offerings and began a growing emphasis on camping equipment.

After reopening as Gander Outdoors, Lemonis eventually shifted the branding and store offerings to align with his other outdoor company, Camping World. The Hermantown store shifted to offering RVs and camping equipment as a point of emphasis, pivoting from the original Gander Mountain emphasis of hunting and fishing gear.

Since this subsequent rebranding from Gander Outdoors to Camping World and shift to camping and RVs in the last few years, the store will now reportedly be closing later this month.

Northern News Now is reporting that the camping and RV retailer confirmed to them on Tuesday that the store would be closed down at the end of October. There has been no reason provided for the reported closure, but the store's last day of operation will be Friday, October 20, 2023.
