It has been one snowy year and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down any time soon.

So far in 2019, we've surpassed what's average for this time of year. As if that wasn't enough, as of mid-month, we were already seeing our seventh snowiest February on record.

Now that another week has passed, it seems we are moving on up! In fact, thanks to our snowfall this week, we are just about half an inch shy of smashing the overall record and becoming the snowiest February for Duluth ever.

According to the National Weather Service of Duluth, our midweek storm brought about 4.7 inches of snow. That brought our February snow totals to about 33.5 inches. That puts us about .4 inches away from breaking the record of 33.9 inches. Wow!

We chatted with Meteorologist Taylor Dayton on the show Thursday morning and he confirmed this fact, also sharing the information on his Facebook page.

In case you didn't know, the record for the most snow in February was set in 1939.

We have MORE snow in the forecast for the weekend so it's a safe bet to say we will likely be breaking this record shortly. For now, let's just take advantage of a snow-free day.

(By the way - the Twin Cities did break their record this week so it looks like we aren't alone under all this snow!)
