The placement of flags on the grave sites of military veterans is a long standing tradition in our country.  As we get closer to Memorial Day, members of the Douglas County Veterans Service Office are looking for volunteers to help make that happen this year.

According to a post on their social media, the Douglas County Veterans Service Office will be working to get the flags on the grave sites on Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22; the effort will start at 9:00 AM each of the days.  The organization is looking for people to volunteer in groups of 2 to 3 people to make the work a little easier.  Children can help out but each team must have at least one adult to supervise.  (Douglas County Veterans Service Office recommends that children are at least in the 6th Grade).

As we are still under the regulations of the COVID-19 Pandemic response, all necessary precautions will be exercised.

If you would like to take part in the flag-setting efforts in advance of Memorial Day, you're asked to reach out the Douglas County Veterans Service Office by email (veterans@douglascountywi.org) or by  phone:  715-395-1477.
