New Bar Opens In Superior With Emphasis On Community + Live Music
A new Twin Ports area establishment just opened, hoping to bring new vibes to the nightlife (and daylife) scene in Superior.
Ask the average person why they like their favorite bar, and the ambiance, atmosphere, feel, or "vibes" of the place is often one of the top answers. The brand-new Superior establishment, Henry's Bar, is crafting something new and different on Tower Avenue.
Henry's just opened their doors today (Friday, September 25) in the space that used to be occupied by the Palace Bar at 1108 Tower Avenue in Superior, WI.
I visited with the owner of Henry's Bar, Solomon Witherspoon, who explained that the name of the new place has a deep meaning. Besides being his middle name, it is also the name of his father, one of the people he thanks as he opens this new business.
In addition to the namesake of the bar, Solomon also thanked his mother and the community as he embarks on this new business journey in the Twin Ports area.

Witherspoon calls Henry's Bar "Superior's Living Room", a place to gather with friends and connect with the community. He emphasized that while the bar is the gathering place and liquor is available, the centerpiece is the fellowship and also plenty of live music.
Half of the space at Henry's is set up to host live music, with a stage and some of Solomon's instruments on standby.

The stage will welcome a variety of different types of acts, from established performers to musicians taking the stage in front of people for the first time, giving them their first chance to perform for a crowd.
It won't just be first-timers, however. He also intends to bring in well-established acts to enjoy, though he wouldn't divulge any specific acts quite yet that we can look forward to.
The music is just another element of the community-connectivity vibes Witherspoon is aiming for with Henry's. Along with live music, other community events can be expected down the road at Henry's as well.
In visiting with Witherspoon, he emphasized that "the past is the past", acknowledging the negative reputation the Palace had gotten at the end of its years of operation. The new ownership and all-new vibes are the start of what he hopes will be a fresh, positive experience for everyone.

Aside from the full bar and a limited menu of frozen pizzas right now, he has plans for a more elaborate set of food options on weekends or tied around bigger events, as well as things like weekend Bloody Mary bars and things of the sort.
Also available are things like pool tables and dart boards to enjoy some time with friends during the low-key times the bar is open.
