Duluth Police Department Ask For Help Identifying Bentleyville Vandals

This is pretty sad.

Over the last few years, Duluth's Bentleyville Tour of Lights has become a recurring target for vandals and thieves.

A couple of instances of this include a 2018 occurrence where around $2,500 of damage was caused, and another incident in 2023 with somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000 in damage.

Frustratingly, some Grinches have made a target of the holiday attraction at Bayfront Festival Park once again, and the Duluth Police Department has some images of the vandals, looking for the public's help in identifying them.

The Duluth Police Department says the most recent incident happened during the nighttime hours on Sunday, October 19, 2025. The department got a report of graffiti at Bentleyville, and they call the cost of cleaning up and the damage left behind "extensive".

In a social media post about the incident, the DPD says Duluth city staff immediately cleaned up the graffiti. In the same post, the department commented on the incident, saying, "The act of vandalizing a free event that brings thousands of people to our city is disappointing."

The Duluth Police Department's post includes 5 security camera images of a small group of people on bicycles riding behind the DECC away from Canal Park toward Bentleyville.

The department admits that while the images are "not identification quality", they are hoping someone who knows something about the incident or the individuals involved will step forward with information.

The Bentleyville Tour of Lights is scheduled to open for the 2025 season on Saturday, November 22, and will run nightly through Saturday, December 27.
