Back in 2016  Eric Burns  was shot an killed outside what was then the Bedrock Bar in Lincoln Park. The suspect Aaron Humphreys was sentenced this morning to 60 months in jail on a felony count of illegal possession of a firearm and 90 days for fifth degree assault.

Back in July a jury in the Aaron Humphreys murder trial delivered a not guilty verdict in the shooting death. He had originally been charged with second degree murder

Before the judge announced his sentence Humphreys attorney had recommended a probationary sentence saying family support and him being a role model in the community should support probation, but the St. Louis County prosecutor strongly disagreed.  Humphreys will serve two-thirds of his sentence. He already has credit for 717 days. He will also have to pay a $50 fine, plus surcharges and fees.
