Duluth Police Officers Allowed to Grow Beards Temporarily, for a Good Cause
Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken has temporarily lifted the facial hair ban for officers in order to raise money for charity. In exchange for payment to a charity officers are allowed to grow out a beard now through the end of December which they have dubbed "Hairy Holidays".
So far 50 Officers have participated and have raised more than $1000.00 for local non-profits which will include Valley Youth Center, Boys and Girls Club and Neighborhood Youth Services.
What a great way to build camaraderie within the department and help raise money too. Do you think the department should have a no beards policy? The top picture is Duluth Police Officers in 1892 and bottom is the Officers participating in the years "Hairy Holidays" fundraiser.
