Yesterday morning, when Officer Ron Tinsley from the Duluth Police Department was in studio for Ask a Cop, we discussed the ongoing craze of Pokemon Go and rules about Duluth area parks and the general curfew that the city enforces.

After Ask a Cop on the air, we talked about the common gathering areas of Leif Erikson Park and Bayfront Festival Park for Pokemon Go players. Tinsley reminded us that all parks in the City of Duluth have a 10:00 pm curfew time when they are, in essence, closed to the public. This includes not only minors, but also adults. As for Bayfront Festival Park, that curfew time is 11:00 pm.

Going a step further, both Duluth and Superior do have curfews in place for minors. These curfews enforce a time frame during which minors must be in the company of an adult if they are out and about.

In Duluth, that curfew has two different times for minors, depending on age. As MPR News reported when the curfew was amended in 2009, anyone under the age of 16 must be home or in the company of a supervising adult after 11:00 pm until 5:00 am. For minors that are 16 or 17 years old, that curfew time is midnight through 5:00 am.

In Superior, any minor must either be home or in the company of a supervising adult between 10:30 pm and 5:00 am (see ordinance).
