Exciting New Tenant Transforms Abandoned Radio Central Building in Duluth
The old home of MIX 108, B105, and KOOL 101.7 has finally found a new tenant who will move in this spring.
The building at 14 E. Central Entrance, next to the Caribou Coffee, which was known as "Radio Central" for many years will become the new home for Memorial Blood Centers starting in late March.
Currently, Memorial Blood Centers is located in the Burning Tree Plaza near Best Buy, the new space on Central Entrance will have more space than their current location and will feature more beds, new state-of-the-art equipment, free parking, and a new comfortable lounge area.
Memorial Blood Centers says, "We have chosen to close our existing Duluth location in order to reallocate staff, and equipment to better serve our blood donors and maximize our collections in Duluth."
The building formerly known as Radio Central has been home to many businesses since its construction in the early 1970s as a National Tea grocery store, after that, it was a Color Tile owned Water Bedroom store, and in 1997 Brill Media bought the building and after some renovations, it became the home to what is now the radio stations owned by Townsquare Media.
After 20 years in that building, Townsquare Media decided to move from the Central Entrance location to our new studios in the Holiday Center in Downtown Duluth in 2019, and since then the building has remained empty.
The building was still owned by Brill Media owner Alan Brill until it was sold in February 2022 for $1,275,000 to Advance Acquisitions, LLC, the building was bought by Brill Media for $402,000. Below is a photo from when Brill Media first took ownership of the building, before the construction of the studios and offices.
