Add these two to the list of businesses now requiring masks for customers: Home Depot and Lowe's.

Home Depot announced the news in a press release Friday (July 17th), writing that all customers must wear a face mask or a facial covering while shopping in store. This goes into effect on Wednesday, July 22nd.

The business cites the spike in COVID-19 cases as a reason for the new policy, along with the fact that most of their locations already have this requirement.

According to their statement, small kids and those with a medical condition do not need to wear a mask. Along with the new policy, social distancing will still be encouraged and stores will have signage throughout and on the floor, reminders over the intercom system and plexiglass between you and employees to minimize contact.

Lowe's also announced on Friday that they were following in the footsteps of other businesses and making masks mandatory for customers. This policy is already in effect as of Monday (July 20th). Customers who enter the store without a mask can receive one for free.

There is a Lowe's store in Hibbing, with other locations around Minnesota and Wisconsin. As for Home Depot, there is a location in Duluth, which falls under the city's face mask ordinance, requiring a facial covering inside most public places. However, there are other locations in places without an ordinance so it is important to note.

Walmart and Sam's Club announced a mandatory face mask policy last week, along with several other big businesses. Target's mandatory face mask policy will begin in August.
