The Duluth Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2112 West Superior Street, the former home of Robert's Home Furniture.

When Duluth Fire arrived on the scene smoke was pouring from the elevator shaft on the roof, the first crews to arrive at the fire decided to call in additional units, the second alarm brought an additional three fire companies to the scene. 30 total firefighters from seven fire companies from Lincoln Park, Spirit Valley, Gary, Downtown, University of Minnesota Duluth and Miller Hill fire stations all responded to the blaze.

The Duluth Fire Department said that crews had an issue finding the fire's origin due to the layout of the building and the number of previous businesses that occupied the building.

The Duluth Fire Department crews eventually discovered that the fire was coming from the basement of the building and the crews were able to put the fire out. After the fire was extinguished the building had to be cleared of smoke and heat to determine that the fire was truly out.

The building was not occupied at the time of the fire and the Duluth Fire Department estimates that $50,000 was done to the building. The Duluth Fire Department's Fire Marshal's Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Robert's Home Furniture in Lincoln Park has been closed for some time now, but some other businesses occupy the space.
