The following post contains major SPOILERS for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The conclusion of Spider-Man: Far From Home features a shocking twist: Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) isn’t Nick Fury at all — he’s Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) one of the Skrulls featured in the film Captain Marvel. It turns out Talos has been using his shape-changing abilities to fool everyone all along. It explains how a guy like Mysterio could trick a genius super-spy like Nick Fury — and it also raises some huge questions. The biggest: Just how long has Talos been pretending to be Nick Fury?

The new video essay above by ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey explores that question by looking through old Marvel movies for clues when Nick Fury might have pulled a switcheroo with Talos. And it finds a few really big ones in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Watch it above to see what he found.
