These Canadian Cities Are Actually South Of Duluth, Minnesota

When you tell people from southern areas that you live in Duluth, Minnesota, they act as if we live at the North Pole. "Geez, that's almost Canada!" you'll hear. Well, actually, in some cases, we are further north than Canada. If you look at the latitudes, there are quite a few places in Canada that experience warmer climates than we do in the Twin Ports.

We've always just thought Canada is to the North, because of where we are in the United States. The closest Canadian city to Duluth is Thunder Bay, which is 190 miles away. It's a beautiful drive up the North Shore. Many Canadians take it routinely to shop at retailers you can't find in Ontario.

The reality is, there's a whole section of Canada that is further south than Duluth when you look at their latitudes. Duluth sits at 46.8 degrees North. Southern Ontario cities are at latitudes around 43-45 degrees North.
