This Is What Halloween Looks Like On Superior’s Famous Hammond Avenue
Superior calls itself the Halloween Capital of the Northland, and they probably are right. They have the Spooktacular Parade this Saturday, a Superior Nightmare 5k, haunted mansion flashlight tours, and a city-wide " Haunt Your House " contest. Nobody does Halloween like Superior!
One of the biggest attractions in Superior started out organically, but now it is a city-sanctioned event. For years, the top trick-or-treat spot in Superior has been on Hammond Avenue. The city turned it into a block party a while back, closing off Hammond Avenue from Belknap to North 28th Street.
The third annual 'Haunting On Hammond' happens on Halloween night from 6- 9 p.m. Thousands of trick-or-treaters attend each year for the block party. There's also music, food trucks, and spooky decorations. They've also added a haunted maze at Hammond Park.

It's fun to see all the costumes and families out at Hammond. My friends Carey and Josh live on Hammond Avenue, and they have a full crew come out each year to help hand out candy and cotton candy. On a typical Halloween night, they go through over 40 pounds of candy and 175 bags of cotton candy. That's insane!

The only takeaway from this huge Haunting on Hammond Event, is that we see fewer trick-or-treaters at our house, but that's probably ok because we'll be going to the Haunting on Hammond. If you see a house with Halloween decorations up on your way to or from Hammond, stop by and trick-or-treat. They'd love to see you.
