Voyageurs Wolf Project shared another scene caught on their wildlife trail cameras. This was quite the dramatic clip, where you can see several wolves chasing down a bull moose in Voyageurs National Park.

The footage was shared on February 9th, showing the bull moose running through snow while being chased by 5 or 6 grey wolves. The camera only captured a few seconds before it glitched out, but it started working again minutes later, and we can see the aftermath of the hunt.

Fortunately for the moose, he was able to fight off the wolf pack. You can see in the video that 6 minutes later, three of the wolves walk back by the camera. Voyageurs Wolf Project investigated the area and followed the moose tracks to a field nearby, where it was clear that the wolf pack turned around and gave up on the hunt.

According to Voyaguers, wolves in our region rarely kill moose. They've only found 3 moose that have been killed by wolves in 12 years of research. The main reason is that there is a low density of moose, and wolves go after other prey, such as beaver and deer.
