The hospitality industry has been hit hard throughout the pandemic and Hospitality Hiring Week, which runs from April 26 - May 3, is designed to begin to fill positions and prepare for the upcoming season, which should be stronger this year and beyond.

To help kick off Hospitality Hiring Week, CareerForce, the Greater Downtown Council, Visit Duluth, and the Canal Park Business Association have partnered to host a  drive/walk through job fair at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

The job fair will take place Tuesday, April 27 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Amsoil Arena. There will be employers on site to share job opportunities that exist throughout Duluth's hospitality and tourism industry. Everyone in attendance will receive a bag containing information on current job openings at Northland companies that are hiring now.

According to organizers, attendees have the option of walking or driving through the event. Those choosing to drive will not have to exit their vehicle at all. Everyone does need to wear a mask, respect social distancing guidelines, follow the traffic flow and please wait patiently while others are being served.

Any questions regarding this event can be answered by calling CareerForce at 218-302-8400.

As most people know, the tourism industry is very important to the Northland.  CareerForce says that in 2016, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development labor statistics estimated that there were 14,654 jobs connected to accommodation and food service in Duluth alone.

Here's hoping 2021 is the first phase in what will ultimately be a big rebound for the industry and for Northland job opportunities in general.
