Jonas Brothers’ ‘Sucker’ Comeback Single Is a No. 1 Smash on Spotify, YouTube + More
The Jonas Brothers are back and making history with their new single, "Sucker."
The song landed at No. 1 on Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, YouTube and more. Since its release, the song has been streamed more than 20 million times on Spotify, and has been viewed more than 50 million times on YouTube, according to a press release from Republic Records.
In addition to topping the charts, the song has received praise from critics across the board. Billboard called the song "a banger," while Esquire dubbed it "an impeccably sweet-and-sour pop rock-tune." The song has been celebrated by fans, excited to see the band of brothers back together again.
In celebration of the song's release, the Jonas Brothers have been popping up all over the place to talk about it, and a forthcoming documentary set to look back on their initial debut, their solo careers and their reunion. The documentary will premiere on Amazon Studios.
Speaking about the film during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Nick Jonas revealed that it inspired their current reunion. He shared that there was a "magic" moment when they knew they had to get back together for their fans.
"About a year-and-a-half ago, we started filming a documentary... [that] tracks kind of our childhood into our time in the band, and it was gonna be a story about where we are today," he said. "With separate lives, doing separate things — Joe [Jonas] with DNCE, me with my solo stuff."
Nick continued, "But during [filming and production] we started to realize that there was a magic that we felt like we were missing. So the process was basically just [us saying], 'Why don't we give this another shot?'"
He and his brothers "started playing a little music together" and realized it felt right. From there, they recorded their new single.
"So we started playing a little music together and realized right away this is where we're meant to be in our lives at this moment," he said.
The rest, as they say, was history. The Jonas Brothers are now set to hit the road together, and fans can't wait.
