Lake Superior Ice Festival Announces Big Change For 2026 Event In Superior
The 2026 Lake Superior Ice Festival in Superior, Wisconsin, is coming up fast! The slate of events has tons of free family fun on tap, including some fan-favorite returning activities. There's one big change ahead for this year, though.
Some of those returning fan-favorites include the giant snow slide, pond hockey tournament, ice racing, and winter mini golf, but the grand finale for the festival weekend is going away for 2026.
I'm talking, of course, about the fireworks show near Barkers Island that has been the final event of the Lake Superior Ice Festival over the years since it began 10 years ago. Don't worry, organizers have something else planned, though!
For this winter's Lake Superior Ice Festival, organizers are switching things up to bring what they're calling a "first-of-its-kind outdoor laser light show to the Twin Ports".

The laser light show will be created by the nationally-recognized team with Laser Encore professional laser light shows.
The company has done numerous laser light shows for fairs, festivals, concerts, and other special events across the country since 1985.
Their laser light shows are choreographed to music, offering what they call an "immersive, high-energy spectacle".
If you're looking for an idea of what to expect, here is a video of a show demo Laser Encore put together:
It'll be interesting to see what sort of customizations they build into their winter show in Superior for the end of January!

The new laser light show will replace the fireworks as the grand finale of the weekend, visible from the festival area on Barkers Island. The show is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm on Saturday, January 31, wrapping up by 7 pm.
