Man’s Body Discovered At Barkers Island Marina In Superior
A man was at the Barkers Island Marikna on Tuesday, August 30 to do some routine maintenance on his boat when he discovered a red jacket floating in the water. He grabbed a pole to retrieve the jacket when he discovered it was actually a body in the water. The gentleman contacted management at the marina who then called 911.
Elijah Newton who is a deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department stated that it appeared the man had been in the water for around 12 hours. The man has been identified as 60-year-old Samuel Clark of Le Seuer Minnesota. His body was found a few slips away from his sailboat that was docked. He was fully clothed except he was missing a shoe. There did not appear to be any signs of foul play.
According to the Superior Telegram,(Paywall) Clark’s wife reported that he called her at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, but did not speak to her. An autopsy is expected to be conducted on September 1.
