The Minnesota Ballet has gathered up some gutsy Northland Celebrities to show off their dancing talents to help raise money for the Ballet, with the annual Dance Challenge.

I know a number of people who have participated in this, and they have all said it was one of the greatest experiences they had ever had, and it was a lot of work. If you think about it many of us don't realize how physical a dance routine can be, plus of course having to get in synch with your partner, and of course remember all your steps! :)

Eleven Northland celebrities will pair with Minnesota Ballet professional dancers to compete in the ninth annual Celebrity Dance Challenge 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 5, at Marshall School’s Fregeau Auditorium, 1215 Rice Lake Rd., in Duluth. Some of the dances that will be highlighted this year are:  The Texas two-step, Latin-jazz fusion, and “dance evolution” make their first appearance in the challenge, in addition to styles from slinky rhumba to breathless tango to high-energy jitterbug and Lindy hop.

Tickets for the event are, $25/$35 for adults, $15/$20 for students/children, and may be purchased by calling the ballet at , 529-3742 or www.minnesotaballet.org, at the door, or for cash only at A Touch of Plasch, Younkers Hair Salon at Miller Hill Mall, and Waters of Superior. Proceeds will benefit the Minnesota Ballet.The cocktail hour for the events is 6-7:15 p.m.
