Minnesota Brews Make a Splash at National Beer Competition—Two Golds and a Bronze!
America's largest professional beer competition was held over the weekend, and 3 Minnesota breweries are coming home as medal winners.
This year's Great American Beer Festival, held in Denver, had over 8,800 entered beers, with 326 medals being awarded during the 3-day event.

The Biggest Beer Competition
Over 500 breweries representing every corner of America attend the yearly event, which is also open to the public, this year over 40,000 beer lovers gathered to try the best of the best.
Duluth Brewery Wins a Medal
Minnesota left the event with 3 medals, 2 gold, and one bronze. The bronze went to Duluth's Ursa Minor Brewing, their 'Equanimity' brew took third in the Irish-style Red Ale category.
Minnesota's Gold Standard
The two gold medals, both won for variations of a German-style beer, and are both from Minneapolis. Northbound Smokehouse and Brewpub took home the gold in the German-Style Doppelbock or Eisbock category with their 'Eisbock' beer. And, Arbeiter Brewing Co. won gold with their 'Haha Pils' in the German-Style Pilsener category.
While Minnesota is going home with some winners, we still have a long way to go to compete with states like California, Colorado, and Oregon, combined they won at least a third of all the medals.
Wisconsin Takes Home the Gold
Wisconsin took home 5 medals, most notability 2 golds, one for best American Amber/Red Ale from Third Space Brewing in Milwaukee, and Vintage Brewing Co. from Madison won for the best Oatmeal Stout.
