Minnesota Business Teams Up With Brett Favre
The short video was posted by Duluth's Best Bread, and it featured Packers and Vikings ex-QB Brett Favre endorsing their products that contain cheese, because he claims cheese heads know cheese.
The video has since been removed from all of Duluth's Best Bread social channels, but only after negative reactions were taking over the comments.
The Favre Video Has Been Deleted by Duluth's Best Bread
The video was clearly a video from Cameo, where Hall of Famer Favre offers personal videos for $300 and marketing videos for businesses, the cost for Favre to endorse a business is nearly $2000, and I'm sure they wish they could get that money back.
Favre is Not as Popular in MN and WI as He Once Was
Favre has had a handful of scandals during and after his career ended in the NFL, the biggest being an incident where he directed millions of dollars from Mississippi welfare programs into projects like a volleyball facility at his alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi, where his daughter happened to play.
Favre has a Questionable Legacy of the Field
Favre was also involved in a 2008 sexual harassment scandal in which he was accused of sending inappropriate text messages and explicit photos to Jenn Sterger, a Jets employee.
Reddit Comments Hammer the Duluth and Superior Bakery
Duluth's Best Bread claimed in replies to comments on the now deleted video that they must have been "living under a rock" and had no idea about the off-the-field conduct, they say it was "100% about the football player".
But people were not kind in the comments, in a still active Reddit thread about the Favre endorsement, one person commented, "DBB approved this message? Man I love that place, but not sure this is who you want to tie your horse to."
Many are calling this video out of touch, one Reddit user said, "This is a the epitome of tone-deaf. Really makes me question if I want to spend $9 on a single poptart."
Some are questioning the response from Duluth's Best Bread, claiming they had no idea about the scandals, "There are a lot of comments detailing what he did and their crisis communication response is gosh, we didn’t know" said one Reddit user.
