Minnesota Cereal Giant Reveals Its Top 5 Cereals of 2025
Minnesota is a powerhouse in the cereal world, home to both General Mills and Post. Some of the biggest names at the breakfast table exist because of companies rooted right here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
As we look back at the year in cereal for 2025, many of the headlines were about flashy brand crossovers and limited edition releases. There was no shortage of new boxes competing for shelf space, but when the dust settled, it was the classics that once again dominated breakfast tables across the country.

The Same Cereals Still Rule the Bowl
Post recently released its list of top selling cereals for 2025, and the company is openly asking fans if they are experiencing déjà vu. The rankings ended up identical to last year’s list, with a familiar fruity favorite once again sitting at the top.

Leading the pack is Fruity Pebbles, which was introduced in 1972 and named after The Flintstones’ daughter. The cereal has now reclaimed the number one spot yet again. More than just a strong seller for Post, Fruity Pebbles has earned its place on the Mount Rushmore of cereals, remaining a worldwide bestseller for more than five decades.
Honey Bunches of Oats Holds Strong
Honey Bunches of Oats debuted in 1989 and has grown into one of the most successful cereal brands in the world. For 2025, it locked down both the second and third spots on Post’s list. The almond variety finished at number two, while the honey roasted flavor followed closely behind at number three.
Chocolate and Value Favorites Round Out the List
Landing at number four is Cocoa Pebbles, which launched alongside Fruity Pebbles in 1971. The chocolate flavored version has long been a staple in American households and continues to rank among the best selling cereals worldwide.
Rounding out the top five is Malt O Meal Fruity Dyno Bites. Often described as a budget friendly alternative to Fruity Pebbles, it remains a fan favorite. The flavor is nearly identical, and for many Minnesota and Wisconsin families, the lower price makes it an easy choice.
The takeaway from 2025 is clear. Even in a year filled with new cereal experiments, the classics still own the breakfast table.
