A 39 year-old man was found limping along Interstate 35 in Midway Township. He was taken to a Duluth hospital after being shot in both legs.

According to DNT, the 39 year-old is from Wrenshall. Authorities also said the investigation revealed that the shooting occurred at the intersection of Ormsby Road and Thompson Hill Road, where six .45-caliber shell casings and one unspent .45-caliber bullet were located.

It was also reported that an abandoned vehicle was found Monday near the Spirit Mountain Campground, where investigators say the people of interest were picked up by a third party in the aftermath of the shooting.

After an extensive three-day investigation, a 29-year-old Esko man has been taken into custody and being held on preliminary charges of attempted second-degree murder and second-degree assault.

I feel like this is something straight out of a movie. A man limping down a busy interstate after being shot in both legs. Then the people of interest abandoned their vehicle and was picked up by another party. The man was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to both legs before being released. It was also stated that he was not cooperate with investigators and reluctant to provide details.

The Saint Louis County Sherriff's office was assisted by the Proctor, Duluth and Eveleth police departments, Carlton County Sheriff's Office, Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, and Mayo Ambulance.
